Project Profile

Alcorn State University - Rowan Hall

Project Description

This healthcare facility, located within the heart of Alcorn State University's (ASU) campus, provides urgent care treatment for non-life threatening medical conditions, minor illnesses, and injuries. It is occupied by ASU's Health and Disability Services. This new location is an upgrade to its predecessor offering more space, state-of-the-art equipment, and high quality building systems, including:

  • Hi Efficiency VRF HVAC System
  • DDC HVAC Controls
  • Exterior Lighting Controls
  • Internal Lighting Controls
  • Among others
This project was completed in April 2014 and it features a 20,000 SF facility, including private offices, patient observation rooms, receptionist area, elevator, mechanical and electrical rooms. The school is now able to provide screenings and testing that are offered by local healthcare facilities, reducing the need to refer students off site. Academic and residential accommodations for students with documented disabilities were also programmed into this building.

Nigel Gray, while working at Farnsworth Group, Inc., led the total building commissioning process for this facility. Systems within the commissioning scope were mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, security, laboratory, and envelope.
